Hello and Happy Friday!
My friend, Tammy, is the creator of the wondrous art blog, Daisy Yellow. Her site has oodles of fun and colorful inspiration.
She also has an uber cool zine packed with all kinds of goodies for art journaling and art projects. Yours truly wrote an article, Experiencing a Sense of Place through Painting, for the newest issue.
To receive a free copy of this issue, tell me a place that you would like to paint (at home or anywhere) in the comments below. Two winners will be announced next Friday on June 15.
June 15: UPDATE: WINNERS of the Giveaway
I randomly selected the numbers 4 and 17 — so the 4th and 17th person to comment will receive a free copy of the Daisy Yellow Zine.

Congratulations!!!

Hey, Silky! LOVE the new look you’re styling here on your blog!
I would love to paint my porch, during the rose-blooming season~ it’s surrounded by green, enclosed with the green walls made by a large, happy shrub and my climbing rosebush, New Dawn. My fiance has “formed” it with trellises, so that is curves around the front and one side of the porch, giving the affect of being in a living green box! With pink-and-white roses and honeysuckle filling the air, which I can’t quite capture on paper! haha!
Thank you, dear Christine! I was feeling like I needed a new look so I thought at least a new template was in order. This is one my way to my “real” new site which is still in the works. A painting of your porch with roses sounds lovely!
i want to paint in italy. hey, a girl’s allowed to dream, right? i own zines 1-4, & they are all completely fabulous!
Italy is always a dreamy subject to paint! Tammy’s zines are so fun!
I love painting in my little studio ( what normally would be our guest room) I haven’t had the opportunity though, since for the past several weeks I have been recovering from hand surgery. I am chomping at the bit to get back to my little nest where all my treasures lie, but for now, physio and meditation. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Hello Danielle, wishing you a speedy recovery with your hand and hope you are soon painting in your little studio!
Thank you for your kind wishes. Every day is a little better. Hugs.
I would love to paint macarons in pastiseree shops in Paris. How’s that for a dream
Sounds divine! Macaroons are so pretty and luscious
Looks like a lot of great ideas. My favorite place to paint is at Towne Creek in McKinney, TX with a delightful group of seniors called the YAH YAHs. Young At Heart artists.
Ms. Toni! So glad you stopped by. I know how you love painting with those seniors and your paintings are wonderful.
I would love to paint in my own home in NC (I am hoping to move and perhaps this will help manifest that!).
Here’s to seeing you painting in your new home in NC!
I want to paint everywhere, I want a travelling art set that I can pull out wherever I am. And I want the bravery to use it!
Hi Natasha, I put together my own traveling art kit which comes in so handy. Have fun being brave and painting wherever you go!
Love your blog, Silky. My dream is to paint at Big Sur in California. It’s on my vision board. xo, kathy, wildflower ranch
Thank you, Kathy Anne. So glad you stopped by. Oh, Big Sur is gorgeous — such a dramatic landscape to paint. One day you will experience it and paint it.
I would love to paint in Italy or Hawaii. I am inspired by the color in both places!
Two gorgeous and inspiring place to paint to be sure!
Hi there! I would love to paint in Costa Rica!! I’ve seen so many beautiful pictures of Coast Rica – I think it would be very inspirational.
Costa Rica would be so inspiring — so colorful, lush and tropical.
i would love to paint among the tulips in holland! all the great, bright colors!
Painting amongst the colorful tulips of Hollands would be fabulous!
I would love to paint in sunny Spain – either Seville or Granada. I love Daisy Yellow’s four zines, and would treasure her fifth as much as I do the others! Thanks for the opportunity to enter, too.
I’m dying to go and paint in Spain, too! I agree, Tammy does a terrific job with the Daisy Yellow zine.
Italy. Actually any excuse to go to Italy will work!
Italy is always a good idea!
I would love to paint in a garden overlooking the sea. I think it’s time for a holiday! I love Tammy’s blog and would love to win her zine. Thanks for the chance!
Hi Grace, I hope you paint a lovely garden by the sea very soon!
I’d love to paint in my apartment (gotta start somewhere) but I’m planning on painting in my garage as soon as we yardsale the crap out of it.
What I would LOVE to paint is the WALLS in my place, but since I rent, that’s not allowed. So…I’ll start painting what I can, where I can, when I can.
Yes, start painting whatever and whenever you can!
I would love to paint in public, but am a private (um read shy) artist. Although I can perform in other ways, like storytelling and other public performances, my art process is not something I seem to be blue to share. I feel stilted and suffocated and simply can’t do what I need to do with eyes watching! Strange but true, lol. Why I can’t be creative this way but can in other ways is still a mystery to me.
I’ve worked with many folks through the years as an Expressive Arts Therapist and as you just let yourself create and trust the process — there will come a point when you won’t feel so self conscious. Usually people really feel this way about dancing and moving!
Hope that I am not duplicating my post, had to login as my gmail and lost the post! Anyway, I would love to paint the Nile, which means of course that I would have to return to Egypt! But that is my dream
Oh, the Nile would be fantastic to paint!
I would love to paint in either Greece (where my aunt lives and I visit every year) or France (I was born outside of Paris). Both are favorite countries of mine with beautiful places to paint and paint in. Thanks for the chance to win a free issue! Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity! Should I win please contact me at bkisrael@gmail.com.
Hi Barbara, Greece and France would be marvelous to paint!
I paint at home in my studio and love being here ….. it is a place where I can paint in pjs and hair not combed and no body cares…..
